Bards College Quest Line

OK, so I can't bring myself to start the Bards College quest line... I am just not interested... seems ... uh... lame?? I imagine the guards saying something like "sing me a song, fancy boy" when I walk past them and I would hate to have to kill them all. No spoilers please, but has anyone gone through this quest line and if so was it fun - do you recommend it?

yes - in real ife I would agree (since I am a musician!) - but in Skyrim?? Are you saying if you walked up to me playing a lute dressed in a 'fine hat' and 'party clothes' that you would want to throw me in the mix with Mauricio?

Hey, look, the 1st (and several others) NPC I wanted to "Woo Hoo" with were all of the Bard Variety. So, probably, yes.

Although, you bring up a good point: "Fine Hats" & "Fine Clothes" really AREN'T. that "fine". They make a character look like Santa Claus. (Not that Santa himself isn't fine... in case he's reading this. BTW, I'd like a new phone for Christmas this year. One that runs on dreams & pickles & never ever breaks... even the accessories.)

OK - so I can be a bard but still dress in thieve's guild armor - I like that better. A thief bard (kind of)... makes sense... a hopeless romantic driven to theivery to support his counterculture lifestyle... ?? can he also be badass at dual-weilded daggers? just trying to RP here...

Meh. I'd make him more of a Bow-user. (Get it? "Bow", as in the musical instrument variety?)

Actually, the Bard's Questline doesn't take very long to do... I don't even know if it's worthy of being CALLED a questline, really. The rewards for the quest & sidequests are VERY nice boosts.

Ok... I will not overthink it then. I will just knock it out real quick... with my bow.

My Redguard was a bard before the Skyrim events, spent it smashed on skooma, moon sugar and honningbrew mead. He once threw a goat out of an inn window. Dark times.

I was going to become a Bard. I finished the burning of Olaf quest thing.

Then I found out that you can't play any of the instruments. EVER.

I immediately lost interest. What's the freakin point of becoming a bard and can't play instruments?! I don't need a complicated music-making system. Just let me select an instrument in my satchel, click it, and my character just starts paying it until I make him stop. That's not difficult! One of the biggest letdowns of this game, imo. I was really looking forward to jamming out to The Age of Aggression. All the hoes in Skyrim love that sexy tune. They'd be throwin Amulets of Mara at my elf left and right.
