Theory on Dwemer Disappearence.

Post  Beardmea on Fri Jun 22, 2012 11:20 pm

After about 2 days of thinking, and one moment of realization, I have come to the conclusion that the Dwemer were Aedra, and disappeared during the creation of mortals. I've based this off a few points of proof.

1. As is evident during the quest in Skyrim "Elder Knowledge", the Dwemer were the father race of the elves. I noticed in some books and a message on the loading screens, the elves (specifically the Altmer) refer to the Aedra as "our ancestors" while the Daedra are referred to as "not our ancestors." Also another loading screen states that the Dwemer rebuked the Daedra's rituals and prefered their gods of reason and logic. I don't think this is an exact quote of the Dwemer, but a paraphrase or cover story.

2. The famous Dwemer chieftan Rourken, had a disagreement and threw his warhammer, Volendrung and settled where it landed (appropriately named Hammerfell). The hammer is now a Daedric artifact of Malacath. Malacath is the patron saint of the Orismer (Orcs) who are elves. When Lokhran started the creation process, several Aedra felt threatened by their loss of divinity, and left Nirn. It is obvious that an Orcish god wouldn't want to lose power. So, in his rage, he left the Aedra and joined the Daedra taking his famous hammer with him.

3. Also in the quest "Elder Knowledge" the Elder Scroll was found in the Tower of Mzark, a Dwemer ruin. Despite the mystery surrounding the Scrolls, the same amount of knowledge surrounds the disappearence of the Dwemer, and the Aedra. They seem very much connected.

4. Another theory is that the Dwemer existed before the Daedra, and evolved to a higher plane of existense such as the Ancients from the popular television series "Stargate SG-1".

Some problems with this theroy include the inconsistanties between the Dwemer and Daedric alphabet, and the extreme lack of knowlege on the two topics, specifically the Aedra. I hope after reading this you will find a better understanding between the connections of the two cultures/races. Reply to this thread and tell me your ideas, arguements, or contributions to my theory.

Those are some interesting theories, but there is a book in Skyrim that actually tells of the battle between the Chimer and Dwemer and what possibly might have caused their disappearance. I highly recommend anyone who is interested in the Dwemer to read this book: Battle of Red Mountain
